Researcher, archaeologist

I am an archaeologist living in Helsinki, Finland. I am currently affiliated with the University of Helsinki, Dept. of Archaeology, from which I also graduated. I wrote my dissertation on the interpretation of the Stone Age rock paintings of Finland (ca. 5000-1500 BC). I am also closely involved with the Finnish excavations in Petra, Jordan (FJHP or Finnish Jabal Haroun Project). Since 1998, we have been excavating a Byzantine monastery and pilgrimage complex (5th-9th centuries AD) on top of the mountain Jabal an-Nabi Haroun and performing intensive survey in its immediate surroundings.

I have collected here some resources mostly related to rock art studies. Much of the material is in Finnish even though this page, for the sake of convenience, is in English.
