Rus Ch Aresvuma Zan Zait "Zidan" was in Lithuania, Vilnius dog shows. He is now also Lithuanian Champion. By so far he has collected 6 CACIBs. He is not yet Int ch. He can become international champion after the 15th of may.

Vizara Iringa Aresvuma gave birth to 9 puppies during last night. 5 girls and 4 boys were born. And all seem to be correct. Puppies are doing great. They weighted from 600 gr -605 gr. And here are the first pics of them. Enjoy! |

Great great news from last week!! Zorro becomes a dad! Proud mum is
Multi Ch Vizara Iringa Aresvuma a dutch import female who lives at
Svetlana's in Aresvuma kennel. The puppies will be born in the end of
this month.
Zorro's and Iringa's honeymoon last month here in Finland
was great and not for nothing. Planned litters -page will be launched
later with more info of this upcoming litter. |

Today I heard so wonderful news that I was not able to believe them. Zorro's son, Aresvuma Zulu Zuka, called also Zorro (I call him Zorro the 2nd) was in Bratislava World Winner -09 show. Zulu Zuka aka Zorro the 2nd went all the way (breed entry 205 Ridgebacks) BOB under judge Hans W. Müller from Germany!! Zorro the 2nd is now World Winner 2009!!
Wow what news!! We are so proud of Zorro the 2nd!! He is a gorgeous dog with with many similarities in his construction to his dad Zorro. Big Congrats to Zorro the 2nd's owners Svetlana and Sergei! And of course a huge congrats to Svetlana from kennel Aresvuma who made this ... Zorro the 2nd is from the combination of Zorro and Aresvuma Bara Etana. A litter which has a many winning offsprings . Good temperament and nice constructions.
I am so happy and proud!

26.9. Breeding Examination by RR Club of Finland |
| |
Today was again very nice and exciting day. It was time for a breeding examination where Zorro participated. Examination was held by Ms. Leni Finne, FIN, a ridgeback specialist judge, and by a long time breeder from the Breeding committee Ms. Marianne Gellin, FIN (Kennel Ikimba). All parts of his body was evaluated. Also temperament. And Zorro passed it with flying colours with EXCELLENT: This was very nice!! And until now Zorro has from his 40 offsprings 6 champions and one International Champion. Int CH is Aresvuma Zulu Zuka aka ''Zorro the 2nd''!! |

Zorro the 2nd took it all in the end of August.
Aresvuma Zulu Zuka was in Ukraine. He was trying to get his last needed CACIB for his International title. And he did it!
He was BOB with CACIB and then NEW International Champion offspring to Zorro. Big Congrats also to Svetlana from Kennel Aresvuma who made this combination with Zorro and Aresvuma Bara Etana. Zorro the second opened his own website: http://bestridge.com.ua/

| 20.9. Brönby International "COPENHAGEN WINNER 2009" |
| |
Today was a big day. A competition of Copenhagen Winner -09 title. Taina followed Marko and Zorro with out breathing. Again Zorro won Open class. But the rest were better and -- Zorro was placed Best Male 4!!
It was nice because the competition was very tough. And then Marko, Taina and Zorro started their trip back home. |

Zorro won Open class. It was sooo close the CAC: But for some reason judge did not take Zorro to Best Male ring. He took 2nd from Open class suddenly. So the CAC was missed. So you never know what happen in the ring before you really see it. |

| 10.8. TURKU National Dog Show |
| |
What a hot day! We entered in time to Turku. Luckily because judge Zafra Sirik, Israel, was one hour too early in her judging schedule. So we did not had to wait so long. And the ring started. Judge took pics of the dogs she liked. I was so nervous. I can not understand why. And I thought that Zorro will not move so well because of hot weather. But when Zorro's turn came he was full of power. He showed himself so well. It was so nice to watch. Marko can handle him so professionally. He stood again like a statue. And he went BOB!
And the ring was late in the afternoon so the group finals started very soon. Group judge was Petr Munteau from Romania. He chose Zorro for placement. And in the end there was two: a dalmatian very good one and Zorro. They ran around the big ring and the judge put the dalmatian (Congrats NINA!) first and Zorro second. So we got BIG 2 ;-) So nice sunday...

| 2.8. Show Dog of the Year |

On 27th of July was the dog's placements of the Show Dog competition of the year by Finnish Kennel club updated. Zorro was on place 12th of all breeds with 96 points. So he is now higher than last year. Actually he is in very high for a ridgeback.
But still shows are coming so it is exciting to see what happens. Does he stay there up or what changes will come? Exciting..... |

I got an email from Svetlana, Kennel Aresvuma. Zorro's son (dam Aresvuma Bara Etana) Zorro the 2nd was in a tournee in the Balkan countries. And he did extemely well!!
Svetlana writes: "Aresvuma Zulu Zuka (Zorro the 2nd) continues his winnings!!! He was at Balkan tour again and took part in 3 CACIB and 1 CAC shows in Bulgaria and Makedonia. He got: 3 CACIB (now he has 9 CACIB), 4 CAC, 4 BOB, 4 BIG, BIS-III and................. BIS 2 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The result is: Bulgarian Champion, Grand Bulgarian Champion, Makedonian Champion, Balkan countries Champion!!!"
So Zorro the 2nd has gained these CH-titles and awards by so far: Multichampion, Young Ukraine Champion, Ukraine, Montenegro, Romanian, Bulgarian, Makedonian, Balkan countries Champion, Grand Romanian, Ukraine and Bulgarian Champion, 2 x BIS. I am soo proud tha Zorro has so good offspring!!!

Today I was also with. It was so nice to meet friends after some time. Judge of the day was Mr. Jean-Pierre Achtergael, Belgium.
And the ring started early enough before it got too warm. Zorro was Best of Breed. His daughter Djimba did it once again and now it was Djimba's time to be BOS with CAC ! Zorro's daughter from Mbwasimba Malabari Numa. Her breeder and owner Maria Bjökas showed her. This was Djimba's 3rd CAC towards FIN CH title. Big Congratulations to Maria and Djumba! I am very proud!
In this show was also Tarujen Paji "Arvi" with Jaana. Arvi was BM-2 and got his 2nd CAC towards his FIN CH. Congrats!

Great results. Breed judge Jos De Cyuper, Belgium; Group judge Mr. Juhan Juslin, FIN. BIS-judge Mr. Hans Lehtinen, FIN.
Zorro and Marko rules!! Zorro was BOB with CACIB and then in Group competition Best in Group! And the to the BIS-finals. Mr. Hans Lehtinen chose Zorro BEST IN SHOW 4!!

And other great news continues....
Zorro and Penny were again in BOB-ring. Now daddy Zorro won and daughter Penny was BOS with her 9th CAC and 3rd CACIB! So same result as last weekend! Way to go Penny and Sunna.
And this is not yet an end to the great news... Mahiri Retta's Elements "Rambo" took part in the show after long long time. Rambo was Best Dog 2nd with Res-CACIB which will turn to CACIB and his 2nd CAC. Siblings ruled! Congrats Pasi and also the breeder Jenny Kaplas, Mahiri Retta's kennel!
Now Penny and Rambo need only one CAC after July beginning when they turn 2 years! I wish them a lot of luck in coming shows after their 2nd birthday. |

| 14.6. KOTKA International Dog Show |
| |
Show weekend again. This time I was also with. In Kotka, it a was beautiful weather after very cold and rainy period. Sun was shining whole day very warmly. I was somehow so excited about Zorro and also his daughter Penny (Mahiri Retta's Eternity) who was also partciparting.
Finally the ring started. Judge was Ms. Annukka Paloheimo, Fin. There were 3 junior males and 2 open class males. Also Zorro's brother Tarujen Paji was there. He got EXC and BM-4 ;-) Good work Jaana! Zorro was alone in CH class. He got EXC. And then the Best male ring. Zorro beated others and continued to BOB ring.

Then was Penny's turn. She was chosen Best Bitch. So now my dream came true! I have been waiting when daughter and father are together in breed final. So it was very nice and exciting to watch BOB ring. Ms. Paloheimo chose Zorro BOB with CACIB. Penny was then BOS and got her 8th CAC and 2nd CACIB! So way to go Sunna and Penny!!

There was plenty of time to wait BIG finals. Judge in Group competition was Mr. Tapio Eerola. Known as very strict judge. He is also former President of the Finnish Kennel Club. And the group finals started. Zorro was chosen into the 4 finalists. And then there were 2. So excitng. And finally Mr. Eerola chose Zorro BIG!! |

| 10.6. Unofficial Obedience Competition with Utani |
| |
So it was Utani's and my turn to show what we have learned in obedience. First trial to me and Utani. I can't remeber when I have been in a competition. So I was little bit anxious how it will go. Utani is just 1 year old. But very good practise to us.
So our turn came. All went first well espceially healing. But then it happend. Utani saw suddenly strange dogs in the parking place. So he run away!! And I went after. Because I can't run I had to shout Make to help me. He catched Utani. And Utani was ashemed of himself. But he had fun. Then we just continued our test.
At the end I got a lot of feedback and advice from obedience trainers Ms. Päivi Sormunen, the instructor of the test and Ms. Anna Kulmala, the maneuveurs instructor. So we got alot to practise. Our placement was 6/7 ;-)) . The best poinst, 9, we got from healing wihtout leash. In unofficlal MÖLLITOKO test the maneuvers are bit easier. Not all of the maneuvers from official obedience competition were in this test. So for the next time!! Utani likes obedience and healing is definetely his best ! Big thanks to Päivi and Anna for arranging this competition!! |

| |
Today was Maria's and Djimba's. So now it was Zorro's daughter's Djimba's (Mwasimba Malabari Numa x Zorro). I got great news from their show succes. Djimba was BOB with her 3rd CAC. Way to go Maria and Djimba! Maria is the onwer and breeder of Djimba, kennel Mbwasimba. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of them. |

| 6.6. TUURI National Dog Show "MILJOONAKOIRA SHOW" |

I stayed home and Marko left with Caravan some days earlier with caravan to Tuuri. Also Utani was with. So I vacuum cleaned and waited phone cals.
First Marko phoned that Zorro was BOB. Judge was Mr. Tapani Pukkila who also took the Group comptetion. Again some time to wait for the phone call.... And then Marko phoned. Today's saldo was Best in Group 3! Again a placement. Zorro is in really good shape now. With this result Zorro is in Finnis'h Kennel Club's Best show dog competition in place 19. It is a really good placement.

| 31.5 MÄNTTÄ National Dog Show and Penny |
| |
Penny rules again.
Today while we were in Sammatti enjoying barbecue with Maarit and Kaitsu, Penny, Zorro's daughter (Mahiri Retta's Eternity) and Sunna her owner took part in Mänttä National Show. And again very good news!
Penny was Best Bitch and BOS with CAC!
Congrats Sunna and Penny! Judge said that if Penny would'nt been so tired of the warm weather he would have put her BOB. But it was a really hot day. |

| 28.5. SAD AND GOOD NEWS FROM RUSSIA |

An email from Svetlana , kennel Aresvuma:
"First on 17th of May at the International show in Samara Aresvuma Zan Zait (Zidan) got CAC, CACIB, BOB. This is his first CACIB. The judge was Kornelia Butrimova from Lithuania.
The same day we had Russian Club Match in Moscow. 126 RR entry! The judge was Massimiliano Mannucci from Italy. Aresvuma Zulu Zuka (Zorro the second) was Open Cass Winner out from 7 males." |

And now very sad news. On 24th of March Aresvuma Zanzibara died under the car accident... On 9th of May she got her last needed CAC and finished her Russian Championship...
We are so sad of this loss! What a waist! Life is so unfair sometimes. |

So Sunday came. Breed ring was fortunately in the afternoon so we got good long sleep. Today Utani and Bongo stayed home. And then to the APTUS show. APTUS comes from the sponsors name. It's Orion Pharma vetmedications which is one of the sponsors of the show.

Today the judge was Mr. Petr Rehanek (Czech). He was also the group judge of the day for FCI 6. So more excitement. Does he prefer Zorro or not?
Marko and Zorro's turn came finally. Zorro was alone in Ch-class. He won the class.
Then best male: Zorro was chosen Best Male.
After bitches the BOB -ring. And Zorro and Marko did it. Zorro was chosen BOB with CACIB! BOS was nice beauty CH Ikimba Yahimba. Congratulations! |

Zorro was little bit tired from yesterday and I wondered how he moves today. But Mr. Rehanek chose Zorro Best in Group!! So another BIG 1 on same weekend!
We got so nice presents, flowers and good quality dog food. I was sooo happy for Zorro and of course for Marko's handling, too.
In BIS-finals judge was Mr. Tapio Eerola from Finland. This time no BIS-placement. But you can't get all!!

| 23.5. RAUMA NATIONAL DOG SHOW |

It was Zorro's day. In CH-class were 4 champions. Judge was Mr. Theo Leenen from Belgium. Zorro beated the males being also BOB. Then he went all the way in Group finals to Best in Group! Judge of the group final was Mr. Harri Lehkonen from Finland. BOS was Ms. Satu Laakso's beautiful female Multi Ch Bawabu Tekeleza Taraja "Toya". Big congrats Satu and Toya!
So we got a dilemma to solve. Zorro was also to enter a show on next day Sunday. So we were thinking that you do not get every weekend to the BIS-finals. But we decided to try next days show and judge. You never know what will happen. So we packed Utani and Zorro to the car and headed back to Helsinki. Therefore, no BIS-final entry in Rauma. Next days show will be exciting! Was the choice of leaving the BIS-final there in Rauma correct? Critque you'll find from Zorro's shows page. |

| 1.5. MONTTUMESTARUUS 2009 - Championship trial |
| |
Finnish Ridgebacks' already traditionel spiring happening 'Monttumestaruus'. Monttumestaruus is a lure coursing trial where dogs run either 100 meter (under 1 year dogs) or 150 meter after lure straight. So it was time for Utani and Zorro to have some fun, too. Ridgebacks, those who have big chasing instinct loves it.
This year there were 51 ridgebacks running and competing for the title MONTUN MENOPELI. It was a lot. It was nice weather for luck and so nice to meet many rr-folks ;-) The winner MONTUN MENOPELI this year was Aava (Harjaselän Persilja) with time 11,24 sec. Big Congrats to her! Utani ran very well for a first timer. He is just 12 moths old. He was like an arrow. This is definitely Utani's one hobby! His placement was 13th with time 12,28 sec. Zorro ran very well, too. His time was 12,32 and place 15th. To compare the tight times e.g 9th place was shared with 3 RRs and the time was 12,23 sec. Now we have to wait that Utani gets older and then to field coursing competitions ;-) !! And of course Zorro, too.
The happening was nice and arrangements went very well. I was so happy to meet Zorro's kids too. There were two sons of Zorro: Enska (Mbwasimba Enzio Dayo), time 14,53; Diego (Mahiri Retta's Energise ), time 13,41. One daughter was there too: Peppi (Mahiri Retta's Espris) time 12, 52. I am very pleased and happy that Zorro's offspring owners are also very active with their dogs! It was nice to meet Sini, Tiina and Sari! I hope you continue your active lifestyle with your lovely ridgies! And Ii promise to put pics of your dogs to my site later.

After Monttumestaruus we went to a dog park for a play session with Utani and Zorro. The day ended with dog massage. So a whole day for our dogs only. And old Bongo stayed at home keeping eye on it. |

Today was really horrible weather and a small outdoor show. It was so cold wind and a lot of rain. I wondered how Zorro will show in weather which ridgebacks usually hate. But Marko and Zorro showed their stuff wonderfully.
Judge was Ms. Leni Finne. Breed entry was only 4 and 1 absent.
Only one excellent was given and it went to Zorro. So Zorro was BOB. And in this kind of show dogs go direrctly to BIS-ring. There were 36 different working dog lisenced breeds - Zorro was picked to the 12 best but was not placed.

Today, I received really fantastic news from Svetlana, Moscow. Zorro's son Aresvuma Zulu Zuka (Aresvuma Bara Etana x Zorro) 'Zorro'. Yes, his nick name is also Zorro ;-)-. So I name him Zorro the 2nd. He has been in tournee in Baltic countires. And not for nothing. But first in Kiev (Ukraine) Aresvuma Zulu Zuka (Zorro the 2nd) got CAC, CACIB, Best Male!

Last weekend was really wonderful for Zorro the 2nd on his tournee:
• 3 CACIB,
• 4 BOB,
• 2 BIG,
• Montenegro Champion,
• Romanian Champion,
• Grand Romanian Champion!!
He is also adult Ukraine Champion and now has 5 CACIB.
For his international championship he needs one CACIB after 9th of September.

I was not in so good shape that I would have gone with Marko and Zorro to the show. So I stayed at home with Utani and Bongo. I cleaned here as always now adays and waited for the results. And then Make phoned. Today Zorro was 2nd best male with Res-CACIB.

| 19.4. Penny goes Group 4 |
| |

While we were lurecoursing with boys, Zorro's daughter "Penny" (Madame x Zorro) Mahiri's Retta's Eternity was in Hollola FCI groups 4/6 and 5 show.
Penny showed her self Best of breed. Later in group competitions she was Best in Group 4. Groups 4 and 6 were together so there were many dogs in this final. So well done Penny and Sunna. Penny received also her 6th CAC! Way to go girls! |

Today, in turn was lurecoursing practise with Mr. Svenkka. He is so kind and always ready to pull the lure. He keeps at least twice a week a practise lessions to all kinds of breeds. So every dog has a possibility to chase the lure. Our boys just love it. I put now a many pictures from the practise. I also practise to use our camera. I'm not so good at it but hopefully I will be. |

It was so nice weather that we made a nice walk in Sipoo dog woods. Boys played together and they found new play mates, too, a border collie girl and other breeds. It went very well as usual. Here under are some pictures. I had to take them because it looked so fun and dogs are so agile when they are free. So now on there will be a lot of pictures on this site. And pics tell more than hundred words. |

| 11.4. LAPPEENRANTA INTERNATIONAL DOG SHOW |

Make and the boys woke up at 4.30 a.m. I too. I stayed again at home with Bongo. Make took Uta and Zorro with him. Both were entered to the show. So it was to me exciting to wait at home for the news of the show. In hope so much I would have been there. But I and Bongo were limping at home and outdoors ;-)
So about 11.00 a.m. Make phoned: Zorro BOB and CACIB, Utani Very Good. Critiques of both boys are on their own show pages: Zorro - Utani. And I started to wait for the finals. Then about 5 p.m. Make phoned: Zorro was Best in Group 2nd! The show season has now really began.
Judge was Ms. Agnes Ganami Kertes from Israel and she took the Group, too. BOS was Okawe Eeben Akawe. This bitch won our RR-specialty 2008! And she is beautiful. Congrats for the Johanna (the co-owner) and Ms. Marja Vaitinen from Kennel Okawe who has bred this beauty. |

| 10.4. U-litters 11 months meeting at Sipoo Dog Woods |

Today was a meeting of Utani's 's brothers and sisters arranged by our breeder Ms. Anne Sassi-Kaitala, kennel Tarujen. I was not able to go there unfortunately so I have not much to tell. Marko went with Utani. My achilles is still weak because of the inflammation that I thought I can not yet walk in the woods. But I really believe that the dogs and their owners had splendid time. And the U-brothers did get along very well still. That is nice! Here under are pics of the U-clan. Yaya and Uno are missing, they live abroard. So there was only one girl Roosa. Anne took the pictures of Utani. |

Today I got really great news from Holland, EUROPA JUGEND SIEGERIN -08. Zorro's daughter Madzinza Andwele Hidaya Jinaki "Jinaki" (Zorro x Basheera), was in show in Antwerpen on the 5th of April. Same Sunday when I was in lecture and not knowing anything from these great news to come. Jinaki was in Antwerpen in Brabo Winner 2009 show. She entered now in Open Class. She became 1 excellent. And in the Best Bitch competiton she did it with Joyce. Jinaki won all the bitches and became Best Bitch with CAC and CACIB. By this win she got the title BRABO WINNER 2009!
Way to go Joyce and Jinaki !! You have done great work!
Jinaki has done great in shows. And of course Joyce who hadles her so well. Until now Jinaki has gained:

| 5.4. Ms. Kirsi Sainio's lecture of genetics and visiting Kennel Isabis |

Today at 11.00 am started a long lecture arranged by The Ridgeback Club of Finland. Ms. Kirsi Sainio, Dos., the President of The Finnish Kennel Club Scientific Breeding committee, University of Helsinki kept a 4 hours long lecture about genetics. Among other things during this lecture was very many important topics. She began with the basics of genetics. One of the topics was the hereditary of colours. Then she told about many things about herditary of structure, movements, teeth etc. She talked also about the state gene pole of RR's in Finland. Sainio finished the lecture by talking about the basics of breeding.
A big thank to the Breeding Committee of The Ridgeback Clug of Finland for arranging this very interesting lecture. I must say that I learned a lot... 20 pages notes ;-) This also woke up new thoughts of the gene pole and how to affect to it. I'm not a breeder but I got also very useful info to apply for my own thinking.
Our day continued with a visit to Kennel Isabis, Ike and Ms. Taina Klen. There are now 4 nearly 6 weeks old puppies from Tilly and Simba combination. The puppies were so cute and fine. I liked them a lot. So nice to cuddle them. Also thanks to Taina for your pies. I ate half of them I was so hungry. And we did not know the news to come from this day ... |

| 15.3. BH-training under obedience trainer Ms. Päivi Sormunen. |

At 10.30 began our BH and obedience traning lesson. We have a small group training together: Taina, Make, Kristiina and I. Taina trains Eda, me Utani, Make Zorro and Kristiina Edi. BH-test is a behavioral test which consists of meny different parts. After doing this test you are alowed to participate in working dog trials. You are allowed to use this prefix BH after the dog's name after cpmpleted acceptable the behavioral test. Now we train for this test. Training session was very good and Päivi is also a very good teacher. She knows a lot of training with ridgebacks. She has been giving lession to Ridgeback Club of Finlands' courses. I use clicker training to Utani. He is just wonderful in training: so full of energy and willingness to work with me. |

| 14.3. TAMPERE INTERNATIONAL DOG SHOW |

TAMPERE INTERNATIONAL DOG SHOW and some great news from Russia and from Andwele-litter. WHAT A GREAT DAY!
Today after a while was show were both Utani and Zorro participated. Also Svetlana, (Kennel Aresvuma) Russia, came to Finland for this show. She was with Vinsent who was in veteran class winning the class being BOB-veteran with HP. Aresvuma Desta Diara was in Champion bitches. She won the class and was in finals Best Bitch 2 with res-CAC and Res-Cacib. So close for Fin CAC! It was so nice to meet you Svetlana after long time!
Utani and I went first time (and his 2nd show) to Junior class. Utani was with Excellent 2nd in his class. Utani was so nearly to be placed in best male competition. The judge Mr. Boris Baich thougth a long time with Utani to place him or not. Eventually Utani's bro Arttu was changed and he became BM-4. Congrats Hanna!

Zorro won the breed being BOB and got his 14th CACIB! Also Zorro's two daughters were there. Mahiri's Retta's Eden "Eden" got Excellent. Mahiri's Retta's Eternity "Penny" got also Excellent and was in tough best bitch competiton Best Bitch 4! Congrats Laura, Sunna and Timo!

Zorro's son from a combination with Aresvuma Bara Etana, Aresvuma Zan Zait , "Zidan", did a wonderful show in Moscow. He was BOB out 71 ridgebacks in big RR-Specialty and so he became also BISS-09. Judge was Ms. Elena Kruus from Estonia. Zidan was International winner, Best Male, class winner and BOB-> BISS-09. Aresvuma Zanzibara got ECX-4 and CC. Way to go Zs!! These boys are just great!! |

Zorro is the THE TOP SHOW DOG OF THE YEAR 2008 !!
We are so happy... Zorro's last year went extremely well in the show scene. You can have a peak on his showresults;-)
Zorro was today awarded THE GATEKEEPER'S TROPHY: This Trophy is meant to the best Finnish show ridgeback by points. Ms. Satu Laakso, Kennel Bawabu, has given this Trophy to The Ridgeback Club of Finland.
In The HSKP's dog show competition Zorro was last year 3rd!
And on the TOP not to mention his 26th place and also Best show Rridgebcak in THE FINNISH KENNEL CLUB rankings.

Today was a puppy walk for Ridgebacks. Mari from Ridgeback Club of Finland arranged it. First there were pups under 5 months. Some pups arrived and we made a short walk with them. How cute they were in their small coats! At 2 pm arrived puppies over 5 months. Then also Utani participated. We made a long walk in snowy woods. Dogs had a splendid time together. Thanks Mari for arrannging the happening. Utani was pretty tired after the walk and running with firends. Also I was because I attended both walks in the role as a former pyppy and breed adviser. Also Maaret who is now the breed and pyppyadviser was there. it was nice to meet after long time! Utani has e.g as a playmate Janica's hungarian greyhound Kave. |

Today was a Group show in Rauma. Zorro's daughter Mahiri Retta's Eden "Eden" (Zorro x Mahiri Retta's Kiazikikuu 'Madame'), owner Laura Lamminsivu did good work ;-) Judge Ligita Zadge chose Eden BOB and gave Eden her first CAC! In the Group finalas Eden was Best in Group 4 out of 10 dogs! SUPER CONGRATULATIONS to Laura and Eden. Way to go! |

So, it came the ''Emmy grant'' gala;-) for the most succesful showdogs of the year 2008 according The Finnish Kenneclub's rankings. Zorro was last year the highest ranked showridgeback, on place 26. We have got invitations to COC 3 times and last year we were there for the first time. Years 2006 and 2007 Zorro was 2nd best.

We were at the Fur Center early to get a good place for the cage. Noora Husu was there too with INT Ch Malozi Jumoke. First was prejudging. CoC is a knockout competition were 2 dogs are on judgment at the same time. Only one continues. |

The judges this year were Mr. Hans Lehtinen, Finland, Ms. Gunnel Holm, Finland and Ms. Ann Ingram from Ireland. All of them are allrounder judges. Our firends Ilpo and Jonna were there too. Ilpo's Löwchen was the 2nd best dog of the CoC competition. Big Congratulations to Ilpo! |

And the evening continued. We waited some time before the Gala began and chat with friends. Then finally started the Gala itself.
Athmopshere was high! Lot of cheering and lights. Zorro went to the stage as 3rd pair. I was so excited. |

And then Zorro get to a 2nd round judge's unanimous decision.! On the second round he was against a very succcesful Basenji. Zorro dropped from the competition and so his job was done ;-). But I was so happy! it is so difficult to get to the 2nd round.You do not know immeadiately who is against your dog. And then the evening continued with good dinner and talking with people. And the finals came. It was really fantastic athmopehre. i shouted so much for Pertti, Ilpo's Löwchen. Whole day was really nice and it was same time the 20th anniversary gala for the arranger Helsingin Seudun Kennelpiiri. |

Both Zorro and Utani participated. This was for Utani his first dogshow in his life! He has ever before been in a show. Utani was still in puppy class. First and last time there ;-) |

Utani behaved absolutely wonderfully. At the beginning he was of course interested in other dogs etc. But very quickly he started to concentrate on me. He seems to have very stable nerves. I was so proud of him. This was also for me first show entree in the ring after 2 years! I have trained my knees so that I was easily able to run and to show Utani. So it was first time for both of us.
Judge was Mr. Karl-Erik Johansson, Sweden. Zorro was placed with Ecxellent and Res CACIB as 2nd Best Male. Utani was BOB-puppy. Here under are the critiques of both of them.
First Utani's:
''Very well developed puppy. Beautiful head. Dark eyes. Good bite. Good neck and back but little bit ??? croup. Enough chest. Good angulations. Little bit loose paws. Moves very well. Good ridge. Good condition. Good temperament.''
And then Zorro's:
''Excellent type. Beautiful masculine head. Eyes should darker. Good bite. Beautiful neck. Excllent angulations. Excellent gorundcovering movements. Crowns in the ridge are little bit offset.'' |

| 4.1. Get together for young dogs in LAHTI |

Nice Sunday! At 10 am began, near Lahti, in a hall get-together for rr's arranged by Ridgeback Club of Finland. It was minus 10 degrees outside. Cold day. A whole bunch of puppies, young rr's and some older ones, too, gathered together in the hall.
We had some ring training. Uta was not unfortunately in that at his best. Later there was also some basics of obedience. Uta concentrated more on running free with pals outside. |

Thank you Kati Tapani for the idea. Also thanks to Noora Husu and Jonna M A Halli-Salminen for training. Uta loved again the running! Unfortunately, I do not remember the other dogs names in the pics. There were few brothers and sis to Utani e.g. Arttu (Tarujan Uwayo). See yourself how nice they had and the coldness did not disturb in that speed. And thanks to Karri Korhonen who took all these photos!
