Sorting through my (very old) To Do list ...

  • Added a selection of very impressive WWI tanks from the Pendraken line, courtesy of Adam Parsons.
  • Added a large collection of photos from Gerard Vanier's Zulu War games, featuring Old Glory figures.
  • Added a photo of the Bell Tents (upright and collapsed) from the Pendraken Zulu War line, sculpted by Robert Hanks. These models would obviously serve well for other periods that used this model of tent, including the ACW.
  • Added photos of a French Napoleonic infantry battalion at approx. 1:10 scale, using Old Glory figures, courtesy of Patrick Velas.
  • Added photos of GHQ Napoleonic Prussian Musketeers, courtesy of Martin Ellis.
  • Added photos of the Copplestone Fantasy range, courtesy of Mandt.

  • Added a link to Brax's "SixTwentyEight" blog, with photos of a beautiful experiment he did using massed 10mm figures for WAB.
  • Was able to attribute the "Miniature Wargaming" hobby page (aka "Messing about with Toy Soldiers") to Forbes Robertson.

  • Added a link to a new 10mm figure producer, TB Miniatures, in Italy, run by Fabio Farneti. They have a very nice line of Medieval miniatures to start, and a good selection of photos on their website.
  • Added a link to another new 10mm figure producer, Obelisk Miniatures, in Germany, run by industry veteran Josef Ochmann. They are starting with a rather exotic and colorful choice - Conquistadors and Meso-Americans! Their website is also well illustrated with photos.
  • Added a link to a new 10mm building producer, Najewitz Modellbau Shop, run by Jens Najewitz. He currently has a selection of northern European buildings suitable for Waterloo through WWII, with photos on his web store.

After another long break, I have added an extensive photo gallery of the Ten High ACW range, figures courtesy of Stephen Oates, owner of the line.

    April 26th, 2008
I've run a quick check of the Links page, removed some dead links and added or edited others.

If you know of any manufacturers or hobby sites that should be listed on the Links page, please contact me and I will get them up there!

    April 25th, 2008
After a break of almost two years, I am happy to be adding more to the site. I have launched into a 10mm ACW project with friends here in Helsinki, and will be adding photos of the figures as we progress.

    June 16th, 2006
Added more photos of GHQ Napoleonics, including a small selection of French infantry and cavalry, to the existing photo gallery. >>> I would like to credit the gamer who sent me the GHQ samples some time ago, but have lost my original records in a computer crash - please contact me if you are that person!

This exhausts my current supply of Napoleonic figures and samples.

    June 15th, 2006
Added two photo galleries of the Pendraken Napoleonic lines. The first is for the original Peninsular line. The second is for the new 1812 Campaign line, figures courtesy of David Pengilley, owner of the line.

    June 14th, 2006
Added more photos of Gerard Vanier's Old Glory Zulu War collection, which provide an excellent overview of the entire range.

Updated the Links page as follows:

  • Roman Seas: Roman, Carthaginian, and Merchant paper ships (other ancient fleets and lots of buildings and fortifications in 6mm scale).
  • Dan Becker's "The Battle of Hastings in 10mm": Warmaster Ancients battle report.
  • doctorphalanx's Wargaming Page: Pendraken Nine Year's War galleries.
  • JD's Warmaster Site: GW Warmaster galleries.
  • "Miniature Wargaming" hobby page (aka "Messing about with Toy Soldiers"): by Forbes Robertson from Cumbria UK.

If you know of any manufacturers or hobby sites that should be listed on the Links page, please contact me and I will get them up there!

Added a zip file and pdf option for downloading my Zulu War house rules.

    June 13th, 2006
Added a page for Flashing Blade's new line of Napoleonics, figures courtesy of Mark Rowsell, owner of the line. The range concentrates on the Waterloo campaign for now, and is already well under way, with artillery and more cavalry scheduled for release over the summer. There are photos of painted units on their new web site, listed on the Links page. Minor Allies for the campaign, as well as the Prussians of course, will follow.

Mark also has a Peninsular line which is awaiting release, so if you are a fan of that campaign you may want to contact him for more details. However, his plans are to complete the Waterloo range first, as he notes "there is nothing more annoying than when a manufacturer moves onto other ranges before completion of that which has already been started."  Truer words have never been spoken!

This has turned out to be a great summer for 10mm Napoleonics, first with the announcement of Magister Militum's new range, and now with the advent of the new Flashing Blade line.  Some mixed news comes from GHQ, however, as they have stopped work on their 1815 line, and plan to move on to the Russian and Austrian armies over the next year or so. For those with incomplete GHQ armies for the Waterloo campaign, you will be pleased to know that the Flashing Blade figures are of similar size and bulk.

On an entirely different note, expect photos here soon of the new Hawaiians from Historifigs - these surely win for "most unusual" 10mm line! Historifigs has other announcements coming over the summer, as they continue to re-master and expand their N-scale offerings. See their web site, listed on the Links page, for more information.

    April 14th, 2006
Added a page for Magister Militum's new line of Napoleonics, figures courtesy of Richard and Zoe Clewer, owners of the line. The range currently features all 8 regiments of the French Middle and Young Guards, and Russian line infantry, but further and continuous expansion is expected.

Richard Clewer says, "My intention is to produce every battalion that marched in the Napoleonic wars, every squadron and every gun crew.  We may never get there and it will take years but that is the intent.  I am marking out some ground by doing the entire guard to start."

NOTE that all references to "Chariot" 10mm miniatures have been updated to "Magister Militum".

    March 28th, 2006
Added a new and greatly expanded page for Chariot WWII Germans, figures courtesy of Richard and Zoe Clewer, owners of the line.

Added a Link to Joe's Place, which has a page full of photos of his French, Italian, and Austrian Napoleonics.

Also, added a link to Flashing Blade, another new Napoleonic line.

    March 20th, 2006
Added a new and greatly expanded page for Chariot WWII British, figures courtesy of Richard and Zoe Clewer, owners of the line.

Also, for those of you interested in the Colonial period, a major release of Zulus is coming in the future from "a company to be named later". The promised variety in figure types will make it a welcome addition to the current offerings ... Usuthu!

    March 18th, 2006
Added a Link to Veni Vidi Vici, who produce a growing range of shield transfers.

    March 17th, 2006
Added new photos of Old Glory Marlburian and Napoleonic Figures. The Marlburian photos are courtesy of Tom Dye, owner of AIM / GFI, who thus deserves a "Gamer First" award for photographing the competition!

    >>> The Napoleonic photos were sent to me some time ago, but a computer crash has wiped out my records ... so please contact me if they are yours, so I can give you the proper credit!

    March 16th, 2006
Added new photos of Chariot's Ancients ranges, including Greeks, Persians, Macedonians, Sassanids, and even a couple of Norman knights.  Figures courtesy of Richard and Zoe Clewer, owners of the line.

The Links section has also been updated, with new links to Clibinarium's sculpting group (Late Rome), Laffe's Miniatures page (Ancient Greeks and GW's Battle of the Five Armies), the Napnuts page (WWII), the Prague Historical Wargaming Club (Great Northern War), and Dave Smith's Miniwars (absolutely brilliant Normans).  New manufacturers include Paper Terrain, Showcase Miniatures (model railroad), and Z-Panzer 1:220 (z-scale rather than n-scale, but very nice).

    March 15th, 2006 (addendum)

    March 15th, 2006

    March 12th, 2006
Added a selection of figures from various AIM (GFI) lines, from samples sent by owner Tom Dye. These include: Barbarian (Celtic) Infantry, AWI Infantry (from the previous ODGW line that AIM has picked up), and several Napoleonic figures including French Infantry in bicornes (new conversion), Austrian Infantry in helmet, and some French and British cavalry.

    February 3rd, 2006
Thoroughbred Miniatures has decided not to renew the licensing of its 10mm ACW naval line or buildings, and the information on the site has been updated to reflect this. The new 19th Century Civilians pack (as seen here) will still be produced, and some additional 10mm products may be forthcoming.

    January 8th, 2006
Yet another code refit for the site, including various minor housekeeping issues. The most obvious change is that I have moved the navigation links back to the top of the screen, to save screen width for photos. I have also removed all frames from the site, and validated the html for every page, which hopefully will make the site more universally accessible. Please contact me if you have any problems or spot any mistakes.

    January 3rd, 2006
Added my current Zulu War House Rules to the Articles page. These are the rules we used in the 2005 Zulu War Campaign.

    January 2nd, 2006
Added the last Zulu War battle report to the Articles section: A Pyrrhic Victory for Pearson at Ulundi. Also added the concluding remarks for the campaign: A Weary Peace.
