CapaMod is a historical (think the early '90s) module player for MS-DOS capable of playing MODs, S3Ms and XMs on Gravis UltraSound. It is based on CapaPlay II player engine, which is included in the distribution with full assembler source code. CapaMod was known in the PC demo and module scene for its superior format compliance and playback accuracy.
I have recently put together an old Pentium box for the purpose of enjoying all those wonderful PC demos from the 90s. Naturally, I have also listened to a lot of old modules on it. While listening to some of the old school favorites, I realized there were a couple of regressions in the last release of CapaMod. Of course, I had to fix those and make one final release. It wasn't easy, though, the hardest part being finding the right version of the compiler and linker that I had originally used, but I eventually got it done.
If you don't have an old machine or a working Gravis UltraSound, you can still enjoy CapaMod with DOSBox. It's a great project, and CapaMod seems to work quite nicely on it.
