[about me]

Animation, that's what it's all about, right? The comprehension of movement, the illusion of life. Wish I had all the time in the world to try out all the funny ideas that pop into my head. Most of them seem to be shading ideas, but I'm happy not to be all stuck in a rut.

[Stomper]

It's been at least ten years since I last tried to make an animation with the old-fashioned method. Here's the result from rekindling that old flame. I'll be working on a longer animation, that's for sure. All done in Photoshop and Imageready.

[Portal GT]

An intro made for a MUD-client software called Portal GT. Makes good use of paint effects and volume textures.

[Lazy-Bernie]

Bernie seems to star quite often in my meager productions. This animation is a test of Maya Live -functionality. A dv-cam shot of the office gets a hefty dose of 3d graphics. It's encoded with the DivX-codec.

[Bernie Walkcycle]

Animation 101: a walkcycle. DivX.

[Toonshaded Bernie]

Bernie yet again, this time in a simple test rotation of my toonshader. DivX.

[Pulsepetals]

A little test with one of the shader networks, this time with animated attributes. As before, the animation has no geometry save for the single polygon the shading network is rendered on. DivX.

[Fake displacement]

By mapping the bumpmap to transparency near object edges, we can achieve a limited displacement-effect.

[Fake illuminating object]

A rather complex shading network, and not too fast to render either. By driving the incandescence of a shader with the proximity of another, an effect can be created that resembles an object emitting light in Maya. Shadows are a no-no, but this shader creates its own speculars and bumpmaps too.
