The Litter movement

Do good to yourself and at the same time to others.

Would you like to lose weight or reduce your salt and sugar intake? Reduce your coffee or alcohol consumption? Free yourself from smoking, from excessive shopping for clothes and from consumerism?

Does taking the first step feel difficult? Well, you can always start with a small step.

Members of the Inner Gratification Movement do good to themselves by living healthier for one day or one evening once a week or once a month. The easiest way to do good to yourself is to decide, in the middle of the day, not to have something you would like to have.

An extremely simple thing, for example, for weight-watchers is to share the cake you were about to eat by yourself with someone. In addition to losing weight, you will also save money.

Inner Gratification Movement members give this money saved to people in need, such as, children starving. After all, starvation is still the primary cause of death in many parts of the world. The founder of this movement, journalist Tuula-Maria Ahonen wants to lose weight and at the same time to help Finnish elderly people through the Salvation Army.

Many members help children in developing countries. Others support animal rights. For example, Iisa Ahonen, 12 years old, decided to eat fewer crisps and with the money saved she adopted a ringed seal: an endangered species of seals that only lives in the Finnish lake of Saimaa.

"It feels good to do good to yourself and to others at the same time" say the members of this movement. Helping others also helps to rid yourself from unhealthy habits.

The movement does not have membership fees or keep record of its members. The commitment is personal and a matter of each individual's conscience.

There is a guestbook where you can write encouraging thoughts for the other members. We all know that changing our ways of life is not easy. But changing our habits stimulates our mental activity and opens a door to the world of compassion.

The idea of the Inner Gratificationr Movement was also accepted to the Global Ideas Bank list of socially innovative non-technological ideas and projects. Please give your vote to the Movement by visiting the page and rating the idea. It is listed in the category number 9 (Welfare). You can give a rating of 1 to 10, where 10 is the best.
