During March I did a major landscaping work. I finished one corner with a small mountain and forest, another corner with a tunnel portal, and the slope which leads from the upper level to the tunnel.  Since this is my first layout building project, I wanted to try different things.  So here I have used plaster cloth as the basic landscaping material.  It worked very well.  The pictures below show you how the work progressed, and how everything looks in the end.  Click any of the pictures to view them in a bigger size.

First newspaper pads were put in different places to create the desired variance in landscaping.  The picture on the left shows this stage.  After that two layers of plaster cloth was placed upon everything to form the actual plaster cell.  The picture on the right shows the landscape after that stage.

First the tunnel portal.

Then the slope.
And the "mountain" corner.
The next step was to apply some Noch rock face mass here and there to emphasize the look of some naked rock faces. After that everything was painted with undercoat green, and rock faces with other earth colors.  The next four pictures were taken at that phase.
After that the basic turf in different shades and coarseness was applied, as well as sand, ballast, etc. was added.
Then everything was ready for the final phase, adding of lots of trees, fences, and other final detail.  Here is how the tree assortment looked like before planting.  There are altogether 55 trees in this picture (and a sofa...). This is the tunnel portal in its final form.
And the mountain corner. And the slope.
Then some detail shots from different angles.  Here the passanger train is heading towards the tunnel. And coming back again in a bright sunshine.
Cargo diesel is passing the forrest house.  The farmer is just about to leave for work with the tracktor. The signal tower is standing right above the tunnel opening.  The signal instructs the cargo train to proceed slowly.
The upper end of the slope features a house building site.  A couple of men are at work, while the passanger train is approaching.
And here is a general view of this tiny layout.  The work shall continue...
