The dance group
Mana 'O Laka dance group performs dances from the Pacific Islands.
The group comes from Finland, the country of thousands of lakes in north Europe.
The dance group has 13 members, who come from Finland,
Tonga and Samoa.
Polynesian dances represent the culture of the Pacific Islanders.
The dances tell stories about the beautiful nature of the islands,
the ancient gods or the every day life of the islanders.
The performance of
Mana 'O Laka includes dances from Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands
and New Zealand. The group aims to represent the dances and the costumes
respecting the native culture. Through the dances
Mana 'O Laka wishes also to share with the audience the positive energy
and happiness that defines the Aloha Spirit.

What does Mana 'O Laka mean?
In Hawaii Laka was worshipped as the Goddess of Forests
and Hula dance. The people
appealed to Laka, the graceful and pleasure-seeking goddess, with rituals and beautiful,
sweet-scented flowers. Mana 'O Laka means the spirit or inner power conveyed by Laka.
