TERRORIZER (UK)

"Cripes, these guys have transcended into a new league since their "Songs of the Damned" debut!Heaven knows what the Finns have been drinking, but the songwriting is exponentially better and they have arguably created one of the best neo-thrash albums of the year.Straight-laced,rhythm-oriented music often tends to be stultifying dull, but there`s something deadly about this formula. The brutal, undiluted, guitar sound and Alec`s shouting vocals give "Maximize The Misery" a streetwise air, with the title track a paradigm of irrestible crunch and bounce-off-the-walls energy.Melody has not been completely left out of the equation, but it`s influence is in tune with the record`s boistereous agenda.Althrough the vocal`s were a gripe on the previous album, the adoption of a more pugnacious musical backbone sets them in starker contrast, and the inclusion of background shouts adds some crossover appeal. The sleeve art may be pretty silly but this is one example of a band who pulled themselves up after a mediocre debut and slapped this cynical critic in the face."

"Experimental Finnish thrashers come up trumps on second album"
FINLAND LOOKS set to become the new sweden in terms of producing gnarly metal bands. In the last year or so, new albums from the likes of HIM, Children Of Bodom and Nightwish have effortlessly shredded the competition , and if this album is anything to go by, the trend doesn`t seem to be showing any signs of slowing.
Initially this sounds like the usual brand of Scando-melodi thrash, but by the time opening track "Weave A web of Vanity" is over, it`s clear that this is something much more special than just another bunch of At The Gates revivalists.Experimentation and exploration abound, with a lot more focus than normal on writing songs, rather than just twatting the listener into submission - which makes "Maximize The Misery" a truly enjoyable experience.

"As good as this is musically, the clincher for DD is vocalist/guitarist Alec. His rough diamond, husky rasp has a real unique character about it – clear and concise in delivery and melodically sound in the choruses, Alec takes DD songs to another level."
