Timo Honkasalo

Born 12th January 1973 in Helsinki.

2002: MS in zoology, Helsinki University, Finland. Minor studies in botany, physics and geophysics. Master's thesis approved (magna cum laude approbatur), concerning competition between bank vole and common vole.
1992: Military service in Suomenlinna coastal artillery regiment. Rank: private, special training: meterological technician.
1991: Graduatated from Kallio high school, Helsinki.

July-October 2000: Field work for Master's Thesis in Jena, Germany. Job description: field experiments with enclosed voles populations.
June 2000: Research assistant for a group studying owls. Job description: analysing nest material and assisting with field work (2 weeks).
January-February 2000: Research assistant for a group studying salmonid fish. Job description: conducting DNA-analyses of fish tissue samples, xxx video material of behavioural experiments and archival of articles (2 months).
September 1999: Research assistant for a group studying small mammals. Job description: survey of voles by index and live trapping in Northern Carelia, Finland (3 weeks).
Summer 1999: Practicant in a group studying ants in Tvärminne zoological station, Finland. Job description: measurements of ant colonies in archipelago and tending laboratory colonies (3 weeks).
1993 and 1994: Animal tender in Helsinki Zoo (birds and carnivores, 11 months).
