Proudly Presents:
The Leijukki
Built 10.09.2002 A.D.
This is a very typical beginner's lifter.

Easy & cheap to build.
Fun to play with.
Totally wild.
Nasty.

Size: 28 x 10 cm
Shape: basic triangular lifter
Not a scale model of the TR-3B...

The Leijukki was built in a couple of hours, after someone had posted a helpful link to J. L. Naudin's Lifter page in a Finnish Usenet group. Of course I had to build one.

Actually the most exciting part was to scrounge out a broken Salora monitor from "somewhere" and convert it to a very "compact" 29 kilovolt HV energy source.
Fortunately the flyback circuit was not yet very broken, not at least in this early stage of experimentation...

The first and successful VTOL experiment was conducted around 10 o'clock PM in a secret lab in southern Finland.

Not a single fire engine showed up even after multiple Rocket Launches, so there was clearly not enough smoke created to trig the smoke alarms. Better luck with the next one.

Showing the lifter take off humming, bounce around wildly, fly and jump in phase with blue sparks seems to be an excellent way to cheer up your colleagues and superiors at work. Let's see if I still have a job tomorrow...
