It is Veeti´s turn to introduce himself. Veeti aka EP Exlibris Don Giovanni is born on October 3, 1999. His dam is CH Hingstbackes Wild-Kiss aka Topsy and his sire is CH Sanddrop´s Marius. There were two kittens in the litter, a ruddy girl Mimmi (PR & CH Exlibris Donna Grandioza) and the boy Veeti, ruddy also.
Veeti arrived in my house immediately after
Christmas 1999. It was easy for him and Totti to get aquainted,
especially compared to the first meeting with Nippe and Totti!
The only problem was that Totti first thought he had a new girlfriend
and tried to breed Veeti.
So I had to make Totti see that Veeti wasn´t a girl. For two days I ran after the cats and even had to take Totti by his neck to make him understand. Luckily Totti is not a stubborn cat and soon he understood what it was all about. And then a true friendship started to develop between the cats.
Veeti is my youngest cat and by far the
most inventive cat I ever met. He opens doors and jumps really
high. The cord to an airing window near the ceiling is not at
all too high for him and he tries to get it almost daily. He jumps
on the aquarium, messes with the bell cords so that my clock has
stopped when I come home. His specialty is knocking down glasses.
No matter what you drink, if you leave your glass unattended for
one second Veeti is there and knocks it down.
Veeti has teached Totti a trick or too and now the pair of them are up to a lot of things Totti never would have thought of himself, even in his wildest dreams. I haven´t deared to let Veeti out in my fenced garden though because he is so keen on jumping. He likes to go out in leash and harness though.
Veeti has been to three shows already and
got EX 1 every time. A good start. The third time he participated
in the BIV election, but was beaten by a female kitten. He is
now going to compete in the Kittens 6-9 months class.
Veeti
has been out on the leash a couple of times now and he thought
it quite exciting. The leash is somewhat in the way from time
to time because he is so quick. Lately there has been something
white and wet on the ground and according to Veeti you can´t
walk on it! Lucky enough it disappeared already and the garden
is once again free for inspection.
But the absolutely best thing is the shore and the water! Every time we went out Veeti had to get to the shore at once. He didn´t mind his paws getting wet, but just continued exploring the water. I think he has a "water gene" ;-)).
In June,
2000 Veeti went to the summer cottage for the first time. It was
very exciting! Lots of water with lovely waves. So there was a
lot of running about for me too. Veeti tried to climb trees and
sharpened his claws against them. He got to meet Nippe and got
used to living in the countryside.
Now Veeti has been through the Kittens 6-9 months! He participated in two shows and it went very well :-). He won BIV both times and even Totti was beaten by him. At the second show he also was Nominated for Best in Show. After this he will compete with the neuters, which might be tough for him because he will compete with guys much older than him, who are Euopean Premiers already and who have won a lot at shows. So he got two CAP:s. I had thought of a third show for him too, but he decided that he had enough and that seven shows during one year was fine. We are going to have a break now.
We had
some snow here already, but it wasn´t much and didn´t
last long.
Veeti´s first year was wonderful.
Veeti was best Somali kitten in the cat club Aby- ja somalikissat
in the year 2000 and second best kitten in the club Somakiss.
On March 3rd,
2001 Veeti got his third CAP
and became PREMIER and next day he got his first CAPIB.
Veeti
has now travelled abroad for the first time. We went to Riga in Latvia. It went more than well. On Saturday April 21st, 2001 Veeti got his certificate and became International Premier
and was also chosen Best in Show!
Next day he was in the next class, where he won
and got the cert and also was Nominated
for Best in Show. This time
an Aby neuter won. Veeti really has good nerves - he just rested
in his carrier and didn´t complain at all during our trip.
Veeti was Best Somali Neuter in Show at a Special Aby and Somalishow in Jyväskylä on June 16th, 2001. He got the votes from all the four judges.
Veeti
went to Sweden in November, 2001 for the first time and gained
the title Grand International Premier with a marvellous show report
from the judge Eric Reijers ?. Next day he was nominated by judge
Penny Bydlinski who liked his calm attitude. In the panel he won
over several Cornish
Rexes and was Best neuter in category III ?). And there´s
more. He was also second best cat in category III.
The results for Veeti from the year 2001 are great. He was third best Somali neuter in both breed clubs and in the main club SUROK he was 8th best Neuter. He gained two titles during the year, that is IP and GIP!
In February 2002 Veeti was at the POH-KIS show and got a marvellous result. He was BOX neuter loosing the BIS by lottery. Both Veeti and the cat he lost to were nominated by the wonderful French judge Louis Coste. He voted for Veeti right to the end though.
The
year 2002 has begun in a fine way. At the ERY-SYD show in Helsinki
Veeti was again nominated, but lost with one vote. I believe Veeti
is like a good vine, getting better with age ;-). Not that he
is old though. At this show he for the first time managed to be
nominated over his worst competitor. At the end of March we travelled
abroad again, this time to Tartu in Estonia. It went very well
once again. Veeti was best Neuter in the combined categories III
and IV. He was also nominated
on Sunday, but lost to a Cornish Rex.
In Espoo 27.07.2002 Veeti got his last CAPE and became Europa Premier and was BEST IN VARIETY too.
